Hi everyone and Happy Holidays!

Well, what a journey Texas Teen was. I had a blast that weekend and enjoyed competing so very much. I made some new friends and got to catch up with some old ones! I did not make the top 15 but am very proud of my performance and wouldn't change a thing I did. I am also very excited to say that my cousin queen Miss Waco, Arden, did make the top 15!! After this past year's journey through the USA system, I have learned alot about dedication, drive, determination, trust, faith, belief, true-friendship, and passion. After completing this Miss Texas Teen USA pageant I have concluded that I will no longer compete in the Teen USA system. This has nothing to do with my placement, it is purely a decision based on what I want my morals and values to stand for. I am NOT done competing though! I love pageantry and have a passion for it and am very excited to branch out and try new systems, and when time comes to announce my next pageant, you all will be the first to know!

Even though I am no longer a die-hard USA girl, I am still Miss Heart of Texas Teen and plan to make the most of my year! This past Saturday I participated in the Gatesville Christmas Parade and today I participated in the Temple Christmas Parade. I was lucky enough to share my ride with Miss Centralplex Teen and one of my very best friends, Tori Williams! We had a blast riding in these parades even if it was really cold!!

I am so excited about the Christmas season. This holiday spirit makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. My family's tree is up and our stockings are hung. My little brother has already gone and told Santa Clause what he wants and he even can say that "Dra want sunglasses", which is exactly what I am asking Santa for Christmas!

Even though we are all in the Christmas spirit, I do have Mid-terms coming up next week. I am not particularly excited about that, but the Magic Belle Winter Show is Sunday and I am the emcee and that is very exciting!!

As Miss HOTT I have three events scheduled. The first being the Belton Christmas parade this Saturday which I will be riding in with Tori again! YAY!! The second one being the Waco Center for the Youth Christmas Party next Monday, the 13th, and on January the 7th I will be speaking to Tyler Elementary 5th grade girls about "The Importance of Being a G.I.R.L."! I am looking forward to both of these events very very much!!

Kendra

November 14, 2010

Hello everyone!

Well it has been 3 weeks since my last post and there are 2 weeks until Miss Texas Teen USA! Since my last post the only event I have really participated in was the 2011 Miss Centralplex Teen pageant where I gave away my crown as the 2009 Miss Centralplex Teen and then put on my HOT sash to take some pictures with the new Miss Centralplex Teen, Tori Williams(see picture below)!

I am super excited about what these next two weeks hold for me! My dress is almost done being fitted! I get to go to Elizabeth Anthony tomorrow for one of my final fittings...possibly my last one! I already have my interview outfit in my possession and I am just about done with the adjustments to my opening number yellow top! I can't believe that it is finally here. I have been basically preparing for this since last years Texas Teen ended and it is almost here! I am really excited about my BIG Houston day on the 22nd. I get to see Arnold, Shainy, Trishia, Niki, and JJ all in one day and possibly Miss Julie from Elizabeth Anthony depending on how tomorrow's fitting goes!
I am praying and hoping I can get all of my wardrobe by that Monday, that way I can have a little preview party for some of my closet friends the 23rd, before I compete!

I don't have any appearances these next two weeks, but trust me...Miss Heart of Texas Teen will be plenty busy with the last minute preparations for Miss Texas Teen USA! Who knows, I could come home the new winner in two weeks!

I hope all of y'all have a fabulous Thanksgiving and I will see you in Houston for Miss Texas Teen USA!!!

Bunches of love,
Kendra

October 24, 2010

Hello and Happy Halloween!!!

So, to review the past two weeks involves going over my adventures at the Special Ranch Rodeo and reading at the Pumpkin Place!

The Special Ranch Rodeo is an event that takes place at the Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo. This event is like a mini rodeo for children with special needs to come and take place in. I made a new best friend there named Lexie. She was so cute and just loved to wear my crown and sash! I took her to the horse riding, carriage ride, barrel racing, and rodeo clown acting! We had such a blast and could really feel my inner kid coming out through all of it!!

This past Thursday, I went to my brother's preschool and read at their Pumpkin Place Story Time. I read to a group of three year olds a story about....Pumpkins!! The children loved the story and I loved spending time with them!

I don't have any appearances booked for the next two weeks, but that doesn't mean that I won't have any thrown my way at the last minute!

As far as my non-pageant life, AKA-school, it has been great! I finished my first 9 weeks as a sophomore and my report card has all A's on it!!! Besides my happiness with grades I am also proud to announce that my football team will be going to playoffs!! This is a bitter-sweet thing, so to the fact that I will have to miss school due to some of the games being out of town, but I am excited for the journey with the Belles!! I am also happy to say that I am a Belton Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) Officer-Secretary/Historian!

I can't believe Texas Teen is only five weeks away, but I feel so ready and can't wait to compete!!!

Kendra

October 10, 2010

Hi!!

Well, I have been so extremely busy these past two weeks. Texas Teen is only 7 weeks away...can you believe it??? I know I am getting super excited!

On October 2nd my mother and I traveled up to Houston to participate in Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure for "Team Miss Texas USA". Not only was it a blast, it was an honor to be part of such an amazing cause. Miss Houston Teen, Hannah, and Miss Bay Area Teen, Raigen, were there as well as Hannah Kirkland, a TX Teen contestant. It was great to see all these girls and to get to bond with my mom while doing the walk.

That following Tuesday, the 5th, I participated in the Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo Parade. I rode in my truck with Mandy, Miss US Intercontinental!!! She is such a sweet woman and one of my biggest mentors in pageantry. We had a HUGE bag of candy to start the parade off with and about three-fourths of the way through the parade, we were totally out of candy. At that point, Mandy and I just smiled and waved at all the people.

On the 4th, I went to the Military Family Night hosted by the Belton Chamber of Commerce as a member of Student2Student (S2S). It was awesome to hear all of the people in Belton welcome some the bravest men and women in our country and their families into our communities. I sure do appreciate everything they do!!

Then, this past Friday, the 8th, I spoke about the "Importance of Being a G.I.R.L." I went to Leon Heights which is a Belton Elementary School, and since I am a Belton Tiger, it was really neat. The 5th grade girls were awesome and left the room all saying, "Glamorous Individual Respecting Life". I can't wait to speak to more schools!!

This coming up Saturday I will be participating in Susan G. Koman for the Cure Dallas with the Miss Dallas/Miss Ft. Worth Pageant Group! I can't wait to do it again!!

Coming up this week in school is homecoming week!!!! Tuesday is Nerd Day, Wednesday we take the PSAT (so no theme), Thursday is Camo Day, and Friday is Spirit Day!! I'm so excited to get to dress up and participate in the homecoming activities (like the carnival and burning of the "B" on Thursday evening and of course the big game on Friday!! GO TIGERS... BEAT THE wildcats!!!

Bunches of Love,
Kendra

Coming Up for October:

September 26, 2010

Hello!!

With Texas Teen drawing closer and the school year getting under way I am becoming extremely busy! I think it is safe to say to expect my blog every two weeks now, at least until after MISS TEXAS TEEN USA!!

As I mentioned in my last blog, I speak to 4th and 5th grade girls about "The Importance of Being a G.I.R.L". This is a concept I developed to spread to elementary schools to show girls the way to develop self confidence or, be a Glamorous Individual Respecting Life (GIRL). On Thursday the 16th I went to Academy Elementary School and spoke to their 4th grade young ladies and was so impressed. These little women were not only extremely beautiful on the outside but beautiful on the inside as well. I spoke to them about letting that inner beauty shine through no matter what their family life is or what their peers tell them. Also we talked about achieving their dreams and not letting anything stand in their way. The girls gave me an adorable stuffed bumble bee (the Academy mascot) as a thank you present. I am excited to let you all know that I will be going to Leon Heights Elementary on October the 8th to speak to their GIRLs. The cool thing about this is that both my mom and dad went to Leon Heights!!

This past Saturday, the 25th, I got to hand out medals to Veterans at the Freedom Ball 2010! This Ball is an annual event for any active or retired military to come and enjoy a good dinner, great band, silent auction, and big thank you for what they do! It was so great to get to put on a gown and participate in this with my big sister, Felicia, and Miss Waco Teen, Arden, and Miss Waco, Christina, as well as the new Miss US Intercontinental, Mandy! Even though seeing these girls was great, the best part of it all was to be able to thank some of the men and women that fought for my freedom and risked their lives so I could have mine safely.

On Saturday I will be participating in the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure with team MISS TEXAS USA! It will be in Houston in the morning and I will be participating with many teen contestants as well as teen titleholders. The fabulous Nicole O'Brian and her mother Denise are the team leaders. My goal is to raise $100 for this cause by Saturday morning, and know I can do it. Visit the tab on my profile if you wish to donate. Can't wait to get in a good walk as well as raise money for this great cause!!

As far as school goes, I am on my sixth week and it keeps getting tougher and more fun. I am loving all of it except that Chemistry is a little bit of a struggle for me but I am not giving up and keep working towards that "A" that I know I can have. As for as the fun part goes, I am loving football season and getting to sit very close to the field with the Magic Belles. I am also running for the Secretary/Historian position in Student2Student, an organization that I'm involved in at school that welcomes new students to Belton HS.

By the way, there is only 9 weeks left until Texas Teen USA! Every week I have a quote that motivates me for the week and this week it is: ‎"Cut not the wings of your dreams, for they are the heartbeat and the freedom of your soul." by Flavia!

September 12, 2010

Hello!!

So I need to cover the past two weeks in this one blog. I got home so late last Sunday from Miss Texas USA that I was unable to post!

Last weekend was wonderful! I got to participate in the Westfest Parade, which involved throwing a lot of candy!!! The kids were so excited to see the "princess". It was tons of fun to see their smiling faces. Then after that we-my mom, Erin (Miss Lake Whitney Teen), Tori and Rebecca (My pageant BFF and her mom), as well as myself headed to Houston for MISS TEXAS USA! The ride down there was so much fun and all of girls had a blast and goofed off the whole way!

When we arrived at Houston and it was Pageant Central! The People's Choice Award Table was set up as soon as you walked in the lobby and it was so neat to be able to go look at all the contestants photos again on the poster. The Crowne Plaza is huge by the way. It isn't a tall hotel but a long one instead. Mom, Rebecca, Tori, and I definitely got our exercise in that weekend by walking from our room to our car or the ballroom. Saturday night was the preliminary competition. The competition was fierce. Every single woman did a fantastic job. One of the best parts of the night though was hearing my big sister, Felicia Bolton, Miss Heart of Texas get called in the top 3 for the swimsuit competition! She had a smokin hott body and definitely deserved that spot.

The finale on Sunday was absolutely grand, I mean it is Texas, we couldn't expect anything less! The opening number dance was so cute with all the girls in their white outfits with their red high heels! Then, the top fifteen was called. The anticipation was almost unbearable. I was relieved when Felicia's name was called though. Then the top 15 competed in swimsuit and evening gown! Any one of those 15 young ladies would have made a great Miss Texas USA. Finally they called the top 5 and then the winner, Ana Rodriguez!!! She will be a great representative of Texas!

This past week I had school, but ended the week with the first pep-rally and home game! It was tons of fun to watch my high school play and to watch the Belles preform on their own turf!

This coming up Thursday, I get to do what I love to do with my title! I get talk to girls through my "Importance of Being a Girl". I will tell you about it next week!!

Bunches of Love,
Kendra

Next Week:

16-"Importance of Being a Girl" Talk

Tori(Miss San Antonio Teen) and Me and Tori Williams on Fianle Night at Miss Texas USA-JJ and I at Prelims-Westfest Parade

August 29, 2010

Hello!!

This week has been so extremely busy!!! The first week of school + the first football game + the Hamilton Dove Fest Pageant = Fun week.

I am proud to say that I survived my first week of sophomore year, but there were many late nights. On Mondays the Belles practice until 5 and on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 6. I do get Wednesdays off though. With being busy with Belles and being in all advanced courses, I pulled some late nights this week. In my Advanced Placement World History class, I had reading from the text book every single night and the book is the most boring, dry, and horrible book to read (the teacher even said so). In Spanish we started reading a story and I can tell I have been speaking English all summer. In spite of all the homework from all of my classes, I love all my teachers so far and it appears this is going to be a good year!!

On Friday, the Magic Belles left the school at 1pm to head to the Alamodome for the football game. What a wonderful experience. It was my first time to every get to be on the field during one of my high school's football games and I was on the field the whole time! Our football team did great and it was such a close game. Abilene would get ahead, then we would tie, then we would get ahead, and then to another tie, but in the end the score was Belton-27 and Abilene-36, but I am so proud of our boys for coming that close to defeating the reigning state champions!!! Our Belles did great for their first performance as well and will keep getting better and better every time!

Saturday, as I said in my previous blog, I would be helping out with the Hamilton's Dove Fest Pageant, but what I didn't say is that my helping was actually judging the pageant. It was so much fun to judge all 51 contestants ages 1 month to 18 years. I started of at 8 o'clock in the morning with interviews for the older girls and in the evening the girls competed in gown and onstage question. All of the girls would have been a great representatives but, I think the other two judges and I did a great job a picking some beautiful winners. I can't wait to help out next year!!

This Saturday though, I will be participating in the West Fest Parade before I leave for Houston!

This weekend is one of the biggest weekends in Texas pageantry-MISS TEXAS USA!!! I am soooooooooo excited to go and watch all of my friends compete for the title as well as see all the other teen titleholders there! It will be an exciting event and a great way to spend my Labor Day Weekend. I hope one of my favorites win!! Good luck to all of the contestants competing. I have seen the photos of the contestants and it is true that Texas has the most beautiful women!!

Have a wonderful week and hope to see you in Houston this weekend for Miss Texas USA!!

Kendra

5 - West Fest parade
5 - Miss Texas USA Prelims
6 - MISS TEXAS USA 2011!!

August 22, 2010

Hi!

Well this week has been bitter sweet. As the end of a fun summer draws near the beginning of a new school year begins - can everybody say "Sophomore Year"!

I started off the week with Distribution Day for Project Apple Tree. I painted approximately 200 sets of finger nails. From black to soft pink, each girl that passed through my chairs were able to choose from a variety of colors. I did get a little break though, long enough to paint my own nails pink!! It was really neat to see the girls faces light up when I was done. Their smiles are the reason I do it every year. It is so neat to see some of the same girls every year. They sit down and say, "Hey, Kendra!" and we pick up our conversation from last year. This year, Apple Tree was able to service around 1,350 children in the Belton School District. Below is the picture of all the children's boxes lined up with their school supplies and new outfits.

On Thursday, I did my first driving hour out of seven I needed to complete for driver's education. My instructor was so funny. I'm an okay driver. I received pretty good scores even though my right turns are a little far out. I'm most proud of the 4 out of 4 score I got on attitude. Pageant girls are always in a good mood! :)

On Friday, I got to participate in a Hair Show for Salon Evidence. The show was a benefit show to raise money for Pancreas Cancer. The owner, Tyler, sure did put on a fierce show. He started with having a girl come out and he walked out and cut her hair...ON STAGE!!!!! Then they had all of the stylist from Salon E come out and do an onstage hair cut. After that they had all of the models that hadn't had their hair cut come out showing off various hair styles. I was one of those girls and so was Arden Harkreader - Miss Waco Teen 2010, as well as Mandy Grisham - Miss Lake Whitney 2009, and Shannon McNamara - Miss Centralplex 2009. It was such a fun event and I am so glad I could be part of the benefit show that raised over $1,000. Below is a picture of Arden, David and me.

On Saturday, I went down to Houston to work on preparations for Texas Teen 2011. I started off by seeing Nicole O'Brian (aka Niki) for stage presentation training followed by the fabulous JJ Smith for interview technique training. I love these two coaches!!! They are super supportive and make me feel like a queen when I leave each of them. I greatly appreciate all their efforts they have put into my pageant learning for the past 10 months. I made 3 other visits while in Houston. One of them being the picking up of the remainder of my wardrobe for Texas Teen in November from Elizabeth Anthony! The staff and the customer service there is AWESOME!!

Tomorrow I start my sophomore year at Belton High School!!! YAY!! I am so excited. I love going to school. Saying that my main platform I speak on is about education, I very much so value mine. I know this will be a great school year. Also tomorrow, is Miss Universe!! I know I have my favorites picked out for the crown and I hope one of them gets it!! Make sure to tune in.

Friday, my football team plays the number one team in the nation, Abilene, at the Dave Campbell Classic in San Antonio. As Magic Belle manager, I will be heading down there with the Belles to support our boys on the start of another winning season. We will leave school at noon on Friday and won't get back until 2 a.m. on Saturday, but it should be a blast!!

On Saturday, I will be helping out in the Hamilton County pageant. I can't wait to help and meet all of the girls competing. I'm sure it will be tons of fun.

August 15, 2010

Wow! This week actually turned out to be more eventful than I thought. I only thought I would have Magic Belle practice all week and I actually got to volunteer with Project Apple Tree and go speak at the New Age of Bullying Conference with The Bully Suicide Project(BSP).

In the middle of the week Beaux Wellborn, co-founder of BSP, asked me to go to the conference and speak about my thoughts of bullying. Being a former victim of bullying this was close to my heart. I spoke about my experiences as being bullied as well as how I believe the school system does and does not handle it correctly. I was part of the "Student Panel". It was group of teenagers who spoke about bullying. I would definitely say the best part was being able to hear everybodies stories. I was interviewed by The Dallas Morning News and my picture and some of my quotes are in this morning's paper. Here is my picture from the paper.

Tomorrow is the big day for Apple Tree. It is distrubution day!! I get to paint girls fingernails while they wait to get their hair cut. It should be tons of fun!

August 8, 2010

Hello!

It has been a wonderful week. I didn't do anything with my title this week but I did get to go to Magic Belle Dance Camp. It was a blast!!!!

I am so proud of these girls. The Belles ended up getting one of the two spirit sticks handed out at camp and we also had two girls, Alysson and Kyla, make it into the HTE Dance and Kick Academy!!! The learned around thirteen routines these past three days and worked so very hard to remember them. I loved being there to help out the team and record all of their dances, take notes, make gifts, and so much more. I made some new friends at camp. Below is a picture of the officer line, I'm not in it but these girls were a great help this week!

This next week though, I have practice everyday from 9-4 and then pictures after practice for the team. I love these girls but it sure does keep me busy!

On Friday, my mom will graduate with her MBA from Texas A&M University Central Texas and I get to be there to watch. I am so truly proud of her keeping focus and never giving up to get where she is!!!

THEN, on Saturday, the Miss Teen World pageant will take place in Houston. I'm hoping to be able to attend. My friend Belle Owen, or Miss Teen United States-World will be competing. I meet Belle through competing in the American Coed Pageant system. She had the Kentucky Pre-Teen title while I held the North Texas Pre-Teen title in 2008. This just shows how pageantry can build to new friendships!!!!

I'm looking forward to the great week ahead!!!

Kendra

August 14-Miss Teen World

August 1, 2010

So, this week has been super busy. On Tuesday I went to visit the Flavors of Central Texas in Killeen. I was able to taste all of the wonderful food Central Texas has to offer. I also got to present the awards for People's Choice which was decided on Facebook and Best in Show which was judged at the event. I can't wait to go next year!!

I also got to volunteer with Project Apple Tree. Apple Tree is an organization in Belton, my hometown, where children who qualify can come get the school supplies they need for the following year and a new outfit. To make this possible people come in and sponsor a child and buy all the things that child needs. This week I helped match up a child's school supplies with their outfit. I also helped make boxes to put the child's stuff in. I can't wait for August 16th, Distrubution Day, where the children and their families come pick up their things. The children can also get a haircut if they register. When the children come get their haircuts, I get to paint girls' fingernails!! It is sooooo much fun!

To finish out my week, yesterday I got to go watch the 2010 Miss Fort Worth Pageant. Will Henderson, the director put on a wonderful show. Sarah, Miss Dallas, and Haley, Miss Dallas Teen, were amazing emcees. The pageant was very competive. Any one of the contestants would have been great titleholders. Yet, only two girls walked away with the titles. Miss Fort Worth 2010 is Kathrynn Dunn. She was also my judge when I competed for Miss Heart of Texas Teen. Miss Fort Worth Teen 2010 is BreAnna Young.
I also got to see many other local titleholders at the pageant. I sat right next to the my big sis, Felicia Bolton, Miss Heart of Texas!!

Besides doing pageants what I LOVE to do, I am also the Magic Belle Head Manager at my school. The Magic Belles are my school's dance team and as head manager, I have to help get all of their costumes out, organize things for them, and so much more!! With that being said, I have Belles Camp next week so there isn't any appearnces coming my way just yet, but soon there will be.

July 25, 2010

Since this is my first post, it might be a little long. Even though it has been a month, I am still on cloud nine from winning Miss Heart of Texas Teen! What makes it even better is I have a wonderful sister queen, Felicia Bolton, Miss Heart of Texas. I have already been able to make appearances with the Belton Fourth of July Celebration, which is one of USA Today's Top Ten Places to Spend Your Fourth of July. I also was able to go watch all of the wonderful contestants in the Miss Bay Area pageant. Those girls were AMAZING!! Congrats to Raigan, Miss Bay Area Teen and Thamer, Miss Bay Area.

Yesterday, I got to shoot with the wonderful Benizo, or Ben! The photoshoot was tons of FUN!!! The energy was great and Ben is so creative. Shelia of Makeup by Sheila did my hair and make-up and oh my goodness she made me look hot! I can't wait to see these photos. I know they will be fierce!

Today I was able to participate in The Bridal Showcase in Temple. I modeled some beautiful tea-length dresses for Georgio's Bridal & Formalwear in Waco. The people who did my hair and make-up, from Sass Salon & Spa, were wonderful and are so creative. The theme was "Lady Gaga" and these girls were dead on. ALL the girls modeling did a wonderful job! Pictures posted below!

Also, good luck to all of my friends competing in the Miss Fort Worth Teen Pageant (Kaci Carroll, Haley Hughley, Danielle Pepau, Leah Weatherford, and Tori Williams) and MISS Fort Worth Pageant (Kathrynn Dunn, Erika Hammond, Morgan Mathews, Shannon McAnally, Chasity Staford, and Hannah Terry) on Saturday!!!

I plan to post every Sunday with what has happened throughout the week and share my thoughts! I love feedback and comments and don't forgot to check out the all NEW Miss Heart of Texas Prelim Facebook page (HeartofTexas Prelims).
